Poetry Friday [CALL FOR HOST REPLACEMENT]

Welcome to Poetry Friday! Robin Hood Black is hosting this week. Be sure to stop by her blog and check out all of this week's inspiring poetry posts.

I must ask a favor this week. I am scheduled to host the round up on October 19th. My day job is changing and becoming more time-consuming for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to host. If you haven't already volunteered, or you're willing to pick up an extra round up, please let me know in the comments. I would truly appreciate it.

My sweet granddaughter is becoming more skilled with her sippy cup, and her perseverance at the task inspired this week's poem.

FIRST CUP

Tipsy, topsy
With your cup.

Dripsy, dropsy
Don't give up!

Tipsy, topsy
To your lip.

Nice and slow...
Sip, sip, sip.

Have a great week, and as always, Happy Poem Making!

  1. What a delightful poem, Kimberly! One of those deceptively simple but oh-so-carefully-crafted kinds of poems.... Thanks for sharing, and I'm sure someone will hop in to host. (I'm on the road that day myself.)

  3. Cute poem. I was just reading my son a poem from Hello magazine the other day about a sippy cup. Hurray for milestones :)

  7. Love your poem about the sippy cup. I wish I could help out on the 19th, but I'm out of town that weekend with my book club celebrating twenty years together.

  9. A perfect moment in time that doesn't get enough praise. And, a perfect rhyme for finger play perhaps? Or, a perfect addition to a scrapbook page of your grand daughter. No matter how I look at this poem it is delightful. Well done!

  10. Kimberly, I can truly appreciate the fun in your poem because my grandbaby just mastered her sippy cup. Tipsy topsy and dripsy dropsy are actions are outcomes experienced by Sierra as she tried to master the cup. She was definitely motivated to improve her skill so that she could drink her water or milk between bites. Great job!

  11. So liberating when my kids started using sippy cups. :-) An adorable rhyme. If no one else steps forward, let me know, and I'll host.
