2019 Progressive Poem Day 3

Welcome to day 3 of National Poetry Month and the continuation of our Progressive Poem. Matt's line set the scene. Kat's line set the mood. I thought my line could begin a transition into some action. My found line comes courtesy of 'Summertime, Summertime' by The Jamies. The original line is No time to work- just time to play. Since we are writing for children this year, I changed work to school.

Endless summer; I can see for miles...
Fun, fun, fun - and the whole world smiles
No time for school- just time to play

Found Lines
L1 The Who, 'I Can See for Miles' / The Beach Boys, 'Endles Summer'
L2 The Beach Boys, 'Fun, Fun, Fun' / Dean Martin, 'When You're Smiling'
L3 The Jamies, 'Summertime, Summertime'

And now I pass the baton to Jone!

  5. I'm amazed at how these found lines are coming together to build a fun poem about summer. With only 6 weeks of school left, summer is hanging on the horizon.

  6. Time to play, I love how you're keeping this a poem for kids. Something tells me our world could be improved with a bit more play time for everyone. Way to keep up the fun, Kimberly.

  10. I don't know, folks--all this endless fun and smiling summer has got me a little anxious about what might be lurking around the corner. A poem has to have SOME tension, right? : ) I hope it's nothing too frightful and real-world...

    1. I'm thinking at some point someone will throw a wrench into this kid's summer, but I guess we'll have to see where it goes. It's fun to watch it grow and evolve.

    2. Ha! "Get Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed would be pretty funny... :D

  11. These three lines could easily be from the same voice - Bravo and Brava! I'll watch with Heidi to see where this lighthearted start ends up leading... ;0) Great job, Kimberly!

  12. Nice. I'm owning up to my song illiteracy, too. I can never remember who sings what or who played in what movie...you get my drift! I'm glad Kat gave us the Google hint!

But I do love the first three lines. You've "found" perfection!

  13. That worked out well, Kimberly. Summer is the most wonderful time to play.
