Poetry Friday: What Kinds of Seeds Are These? Giveaway

Welcome to Poetry Friday! This week's round up is hosted by Sylvia Vardell and Janet Wong at the Poetry For Children Blog. Be sure to click over to enjoy all of this week's poetry goodness!

I've spent the last month completing three books in a series for a nonfiction publisher. It's been fast, educational, and fun, and I'll share more on that when I can. I've tried to read as many of your posts as I could, but I have missed posting myself, and I have missed all of you!

Over at STEAM Powered Poetry, we are hosting several book giveaways in the month of September. The first book to go to a lucky entrant is, WHAT KIND OF SEEDS ARE THESE? written by my vlog partner, Heidi Bee Roemer.

Through rhyming text and clues, Heidi introduces nine different seeds. Her language is positively delicious- angel-winged maple seeds and hitchhiking burdock burrs are just a few examples. The riddle form works perfectly! Heidi provides several activities at the end of the book to keep the fun and learning rolling along.

Here are the giveaway details:
Enter for a chance to win WHAT KINDS OF SEEDS ARE THESE? at www.steampoweredpoetry.com (home page) to enter on Rafflecopter. Share our link to the giveaway on Twitter or follow us @steampoweredpo1. Tweet once per day for extra entries! ENDS Sat. 9/7/18. Thank you for your friendship and support! (U.S. entries only, please.)

If you happen to read this post after the deadline for this giveaway, no worries. Once this giveaway closes, the next giveaway will immediately begin.

Have a great week!

  3. The book sounds wonderful, Kimberly, will spark an interest in the extraordinary uniqueness of seeds. I have a few interesting seeds, but always wished to go to the Amazon to see the exotic seed pods growing there, too. Thanks!

  4. Cool--Heidi is just such a delightful poet and such a warm and kind person. Congratulations on finishing your three books, Kimberly! It's so easy to fall off the grid a bit when the writing load is heavy (I say guiltily!). :>)

    1. Yes it is, Laura. And I seem to have a really difficult time writing in more than one genre at the same time. But I'm anxious to get my poetry muscles working again. And congrats on winning the giveaway, btw!

  7. Ah ha! I have missed your posts....but I see why you've been busy. How is writing for hire? We might need a blog post about that sometime, hmmmm? I can't imagine it, myself. I love a good book giveaway. But, really I just love boosting book news. It's so fun. Thanks for a wonderful post! Hope to see you back soon.

    1. Linda, if you're interested in wfh, I can't recommend Laura Purdie Salas's book enough. It covers everything! It was only a few months after I read Laura's book and began submitting packets to publishers that I landed my first gig. I just finished book 32. It's not for everyone, but I love it!

  11. Thank you for highlighting a new, delightful book, Kimberly. I am just getting around to reading posts that I did not have the change to read. The words that popped out at me are angel-winged maple seeds. As a child, I used to love to add these delightful droppings on my nose.
