Poetry Friday: Fall Haiku

Hello my poetry friends! Welcome to Poetry Friday. We've had lots of wind loosening leaves from our trees, and that is what inspired this week's haiku.

Autumn winds whipping

Leaves billowing, blanketing

Snuggling cold ground

Autumn winds whipping

Balding trees loosing their coats

Branches shivering

This week's round up is hosted by Janice at Salt City Verse. Be sure to stop by to enjoy all of this week's poetry goodness.

  1. Oooh. These are delightful. Loving the two perspectives; blanketing / snuggling cold ground, 🍂 loosing their coats.

  2. I love this! As Kat says, the two perspectives is a very clever way of looking.

  3. Hi, Kimberly! We're just barely getting an inkling of cool weather here in North Florida, but reading your refreshing haiku has done the trick. :)

  4. We have those leaf blankets everywhere, Kimberly. I love the end, too, the idea of "branches shivering"!

  5. "Snuggling cold ground." I can just feel those leaves in your poem and the "branches shivering." You captured Fall in these.

  6. Lovely haiku! Love the leaves blanketing and snuggling cold ground. :) We've had nothing but rain here so the leaves haven't been able to swirl much so far . . .

  7. I wouldn't want to be cold like it is up north, but I like experiencing fall from a distance! :-)

  9. Autumnal scenes and haiku seem like natural partners Kimberly. You have strengthened that connection with your poems.Your well chosen words add clarity and purpose to the seasonal events you are sharing.

  10. Your autumn haikus are retelling a wonderful story from one to the other. From blanketing and snuggling to trees loosing their coats to shivering. These haikus hold a great visual for readers. Thanks.

  11. Gorgeous! I love the snuggling the ground. People tend to think of blown-down leaves as dry and brittle, but they are so important to insulation, and your line totally captures that.

  12. Lovely, I think the branches are definitely shivering and sending shivers among us too–hope those blankets on the ground help, thanks Kimberly!

  13. Hi, Kimberly. My son and I walk together every day. It's been amazing to watch the leaves gathering and leaving the branches shivering.
